But this isn’t a post extolling the virtues of WooCommerce. Instead, let’s look at how we can customize parts of it. Specifically, I want to look at the cart. WooCommerce is super extensible in the sense that it provides a ton of filters and actions that can be hooked into, plus a way to override the templates in a WordPress theme. The problem is, those take at least some intermediate-level dev chops which may not be feasible for some folks. And, at least in my experience, the cart page tends to be the most difficult to grok and customize. .

The good news is that Ecwid has partnered with third-party designers and theme stores, such as ThemeForest for WordPress, to provide both predesigned and custom themes. That can mean an additional cost, but because Ecwid can be free or low-cost, that may not be a total budget-buster.

Obviously, not every customer will have access to the same content or services you offer. Maybe you've restricted content with s2Member in different ways, at different Membership Levels, or with different Custom Capability packages. If someone logs into your site as a Free Subscriber, you might want to show a Free Subscriber something different than you show a Member at Level 1. If you always display links to content that requires Membership Level 1, but it's a Free Subscriber who logs in; those links may not work for them. So let's not show those links to a Free Subscriber. To accomplish this, site owners will typically use [s2If /] (Simple Shortcode Conditionals) in their Login Welcome Page (provided by s2Member). In this way, you can tailor the content/links displayed on the Login Welcome Page to specific users (e.g., Free Subscribers, Members at Level 1, Members at Level 2, Members with a particular Custom Capability, with a particular username, etc). You can learn more about Simple Shortcode Conditionals here: WordPress Dashboard → s2Member → API / Scripting → Simple/Shortcode Conditionals What is a Membership Options Page?

…you want a plugin that supports payments, donations, and subscriptions via PayPal. However, we only recommend using this tool if you don’t mind configuring shortcode parameters manually.
When you’re done, return to the PayPal Donations settings screen, and paste the name of your custom payment page. Directly below, you can also select where customers are returned post-donation – I recommend creating a dedicated “Thank You” page.

We won’t cover the specific HTML that makes these elements. The important thing is knowing where that markup goes.
